Product Description

SEPS is a styrene-ethylene/butene-styrene block copolymer, which is a kind of thermoplastic elastomer rubber. It is a high-performance elastomer material with a unique molecular structure consisting of a hard segment (polystyrene) and a soft segment (ethylene/butene). This structure gives it both the elasticity of rubber and the processability of plastic.
Performance characteristics

Excellent elasticity: The elastic resilience of SEPS rubber is very strong, and it can quickly return to its original shape even after a large deformation. For example, in applications such as the manufacture of sole shoes, it can provide good shock absorption and resilience, so that people feel comfortable when walking or exercising.
Good temperature resistance: it can maintain its performance over a wide temperature range. Generally speaking, it can remain soft and elastic at low temperatures, and will not harden and become brittle at low temperatures like some ordinary rubber; It also has good stability at high temperatures and can withstand a certain degree of heat without serious deformation or performance degradation.
Chemical stability: Good tolerance to many chemicals. It can resist the erosion of chemical substances such as acid and alkali, and can maintain its own physical and chemical properties in some application scenarios where the chemical environment is more complex, such as auto parts and chemical equipment seals.
Strong machinability: As a thermoplastic elastomer, SEPS can be molded like plastic by injection molding, extrusion and other processing methods. Compared with the traditional vulcanized rubber processing method, this greatly improves the production efficiency, and can produce products with complex shapes. For example, when manufacturing some small sealing rubber parts, you can quickly and efficiently produce products that meet the requirements by precision injection molding.
Production method
SEPS are usually synthesized by anionic polymerization. In the reaction process, the organollithium reagent is used as the initiator to initiate the polymerization of styrene monomer to form polystyrene chain segment, and then the mixed ethylene/butene monomer is added for polymerization, and finally the styrene monomer is added to form block copolymer. This polymerization method can precisely control the molecular structure and molecular weight of the polymer, resulting in stable SEPS products.
