Ethyl formate is used as a solvent for cellulose nitrate, cellulose acetate, etc., and as a fungicide, larvicide and fumigant for food, cigarettes, cereals, dried fruits, etc. Ethyl formate as a flavor can be used to blend peach, banana, apple, apricot, pineapple, berries and other aromas, but also as butter, brandy, sweet wine, whiskey and other spices. Ethyl formate is also an intermediate in organic synthesis. For example, in the pharmaceutical industry, it is used in the production of anti-tumor drugs fusexidine and vitamin B1; Sodium acetyl vinyl alcohol was obtained by condensation of ethyl formate and acetone in sodium methinol-xylene solution, and 2-mercaptoimidazole-4-carboxylate ethyl ester was obtained by condensation of acetyl glycine ester and cyclic synthesis of potassium thiocyanide. Ethyl formate is used in the production of houttuynia, Tongterenin, Kangulone, thiacil, thiodithidine, hexoxen, fully synthetic anisodamine and other drugs.
