C9 Aromatic Resins R series are low molecular weight thermoplastic aromatic resins producedfrom petroleum derived C9 fraction through thermal-polymerization technique. Theyare transparent flake solids with the color of yellow to light brown.

Production technology
Raw material pretreatment: pretreatment of C9 fractions of by-product of petroleum cracking to remove impurities, water and unsaturated hydrocarbons to ensure the smooth progress of subsequent polymerization.
Polymerization reaction: After pretreatment, the C9 fraction is polymerized under the condition of catalyst or heating. The commonly used catalysts are BF3,and there are two kinds of polymerization methods: thermal polymerization and catalytic polymerization.
Distillation refining: After the polymerization of the product through distillation and other refining process, remove the unreacted monomers, oligomers and impurities, to obtain different softening points and properties of C9 aromatic petroleum resin.

Application field
Paint industry: Adding C9 petroleum resin can increase paint gloss, improve film adhesion, hardness, acid resistance, alkali resistance, widely used in a variety of industrial coatings, anti-corrosion coatings and architectural coatings.
Rubber industry: The main use of low softening point of C9 petroleum resin, such resins and natural rubber pellets have good mutual solubility, no big impact on the rubber vulcanization process, can play a role in viscosity, reinforcing, softening.
Adhesive industry: C9 petroleum resin has good adhesion, adding in the adhesive and pressure sensitive tape can improve the adhesive force, acid resistance, alkali resistance and water resistance, and can effectively reduce production costs.
Ink industry: ink C9 petroleum resin is mainly high softening point products, can play a color, fast drying, brightening effect, improve printing performance, often used in offset ink, gravure ink and so on.
Other fields: Can also be used for paper adhesive, increase the water resistance and strength of paper; As a plastic modifier, improve the processing and physical properties of plastics.
Modification method
Hydrogenation modification: Through hydrogenation reaction, unsaturated double bonds in C9 petroleum resin can be saturated, reduce the color and odor of the resin, improve its weather resistance, stability and bonding properties, and broaden its application range.
Chemical copolymerization modification: the C9 petroleum resin is copolymerized with other monomers to introduce new functional groups or structures, which can improve its compatibility, viscosity and other properties to meet different application needs.
